David Keplinger will read from his newest collection of poetry, Another City, and share an excerpt from his upcoming young adult novel based loosely on his childhood in the Indian Valley.
David will then sing from By and By, his 2011 album of songs based on the poetry of his great-great grandfather, a Civil War veteran. Winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize and Colorado Book Award , David will be introduced by his life-long friend and fellow Souderton graduate Liz Chesla, who will share some of her own work.
David Keplinger
David Keplinger is the author of Ice and Another City. His collections of poems also include The Most Natural Thing, The Prayers of Others, The Clearing, and The Rose Inside. His translations include Carsten René Nielsen’s World Cut Out with Crooked Scissors and House Inspections, a Lannan Translations Selection; his most recent translation is Jan Wagner’s The Art of Topiary.
This collection deftly spans not only the physical space of global cities, but more intangible and intimate distances: between birth and death, father and son, past and present, metaphor and reality.
