Join the Loft Literary Center’s Wordplay book festival for a conversation with Natalie Diaz, Jake Skeets, and Roy G. Guzmán!
Winner of an American Book Award, Natalie Diaz’s (Postcolonial Love Poem) second collection of poems is at once lyrical and electric, invoking the natural world to celebrate indigenous bodies and desire in a nation founded on erasing both. In his highly anticipated debut collection 2020 Whiting Award winner Jake Skeets (Eyes Bottle Dark with a Mouthful of Flowers) wanders between Diné history and memory, combining language and landscapes to examine an origin of violence, forbidden desire, and queer love. Deemed one of America’s most inventive new poets, Roy G. Guzmán (Catrachos) delivers a debut collection that is part immigration narrative, part elegy, and part queer coming-of-age story. Together and moderated by Lisa Marie Brimmer, these authors discuss how they use poetry to address love, heritage, and queer identities.
The Loft Literary Center will be live-streaming this event simultaneously to their Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages, as well as Crowdcast.
