Milkweed Editions, one of the nation’s leading independent book publishers, seeks a Development Assistant. A nonprofit organization, our mission is to identify, nurture, and publish transformative literature, and build an engaged community around it. The Development Assistant will work closely with the Development Director and Development & Finance Associate to execute our fundraising program. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to managing all donations, our records database, and donor correspondence; drafting and proofreading grant applications, donor reports, and other fundraising materials; and taking part in planning and execution of large and small development events. Additionally, this person will have opportunities to work with the Milkweed Editions Board of Directors and Publisher & CEO in a variety of capacities.
Ideal candidates will be highly organized professionals with strong writing skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills who have a desire to be part of a dynamic team, eagerness to learn and contribute meaningfully, and a passion for connecting with people. Candidates should be equally comfortable working with and without supervision to meet goals and think creatively to solve problems.
Previous experience with fundraising and/or nonprofits is preferred but not required. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. Compensation will be determined based on experience.
