An update from Milkweed Editions

Dear friends,

It is with concern and conscience that we have decided to temporarily close Milkweed Books. We have also decided to suspend all events through April. Milkweed Editions’ offices will remain open, but employees have been encouraged to work remotely if possible.

These are challenging times, and it is impossible to know how the days to come will unfold. We do know, however, that we owe our very existence—as an independent publisher and bookstore, as a non-profit organization, and as members of a multifaceted literary landscape—to our community. We also feel strongly that our top priority must be to implement best practices for maintaining the health of our community, and to balance this with doing what is right for the authors we publish, for small and independent presses, and for other literary organizations.

While Milkweed Books is temporarily closed, we hope you will buy books from us through our Bookshop page. You could also call the Milkweed Editions offices (612-332-3192) to purchase a gift card to use when our storefront re-opens.

We will do our best to keep you updated as we adapt in this highly fluid situation. As always, please reach out with any concerns or questions.
