Elizabeth Rush at Falmouth Public Library

Falmouth Public Library welcomes author Elizabeth Rush on Saturday, September 7 at 11 am! Heather Goldstone, science editor and host of Living Lab on WCA!, will interview her about her new book, Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore, a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction.

Elizabeth is also the author of Still Lifes from a Vanishing City: Essays and Photographs from Yangon, Myanmar. Her work explores how humans adapt to changes enacted upon them by forces seemingly beyond their control, from ecological transformation to political revolution. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Harper’s, The Atlantic, Pacific Standard and the New Republic, among others. Rush recently served as the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Artist and Writer. Today she teaches creative nonfiction courses at Brown University that carry the environmental sciences and digital technologies into the humanities classroom. She will read from her book and take questions from the audience. The book will be available to buy from Eight Cousins Books.
