Elizabeth Rush, author of the Pulitzer Prize nominated book Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore, will be featured by Sierra Club’s Maine chapter for a day of events culminating in a terrific evening celebrating the organization’s work and reflecting on why it is so vital. Adding to the fantastic day is Matthew Miller, Sierra Club staff attorney, who will share his and Sierra Club’s role in the ousting of ex-EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

The 2019 Celebration will call attention to the role of advocates and environmental writers in addressing environmental, climate disruption, and environmental justice issues and will celebrate the goals achieved in Maine.

In selecting Waterville as the location for the celebration, Sierra Club Maine committed to minimizing the impact of travel. Custom Coach and Limo of Gorham will be greening the journey by providing coach travel from South Portland to Waterville, with stops along the way to gather more passengers in Portland, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport, and Topsham. A second coach will travel from Camden with stops between there and Waterville depending on demand. Early registrations will make this plan a success!
