Join The Great Northern Festival in partnership with Milkweed Editions for a special Open Steam sauna reading with poets Michael Bazzett and Claire Wahmanholm. The reading will take place in our event sauna, where you’re welcome to come and go at your leisure. Step inside and enjoy the reading in the soothing heat, and then cool off outside or check out one of our other saunas. Please note that sauna participants must be 13+ years of age at the time of their sauna experience. Attendees under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Michael Bazzett
Michael Bazzett is the author of You Must Remember This, which received the 2014 Lindquist & Vennum Prize for Poetry, The Interrogation, and most recently The Echo Chamber. He is also the translator of The Popol Vuh, the first English verse translation of the Mayan creation epic, which was named a New York Times Best Book of 2018. His poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Ploughshares, The Sun, and Best New Poets. He is a 2017 National Endowment for the Arts Fellow and lives in Minneapolis.
Claire Wahmanholm
Claire Wahmanholm is the author of Meltwater, Redmouth, and Wilder, which won the Lindquist & Vennum Prize for Poetry and the Society of Midland Authors Award for Poetry, and was a finalist for the 2019 Minnesota Book Award.
