We nurture and publish work by writers whose lives are often changed when their voices become part of the cultural conversation. Their books change the way readers see and live in the world. And many of the books we publish would not exist without the community of individuals who invest in our work.

Did you know Milkweed is an independent publisher incorporated as a nonprofit organization? We sell books we publish across North America, but the financial support of our community enables us to focus on acquiring projects because we think they are excellent and transformative, to work with their authors to develop these projects to their full potential, and to connect them with readers in increasingly innovative ways. Publishing transformative literature often entails years of investment, and it is your support that makes it possible.

When you become a member, you become part of the circle of interdependency that makes our work possible. Members sustain Milkweed’s mission while enjoying more opportunities to engage with our books and authors.

Your impact: Milkweed is a writer service organization; we invest in promising authors and work with each writer to develop their manuscript to its fullest potential. $60 funds an hour of editorial development work.

Your impact: Milkweed is committed to accessibility and ensuring our books and their important messages reach as wide an audience as possible. $120 funds an hour of audiobook recording. 

INVESTOR $25/month ($300/year) 
Receive all Supporter benefits, plus exclusive access to two Book Club meetings per year facilitated by Milkweed staff in conversation with the authors.

Your impact: Help get Milkweed books into the hands of readers who might not otherwise have access to them. $300 allows us to donate 15 books to a prison, school, or library.
