Makenna Goodman is the author of The Shame, which was named a Best Book of the Year by the Harvard Review and The White Review. Her second novel, Helen of Nowhere, was named a Best Book of 2025 (The Paris Review and Granta) and a Favorite Book of 2026 (The Times). Goodman has written for international publications including the New York Review of Books, New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, Electric Literature, Literary Hub, Catapult, Harvard Review, the White Review, BOMB, The Common, ASTRA, MOUSSE, and RA Magazine. Also an editor, she is based in Vermont.
