Geneviève Damas is a Belgian actress, playwright, and novelist. After completing a law degree, she turned to theater. She has acted, directed, and written award-winning plays for both children and adults. If You Cross the River is her first novel and has received wide international acclaim, including recceiving the Prix Victor Rossel in Belgium and the Prix des Cinq Continents de la Francophonie, awarded annually for fiction that enriches cultural diversity and the French language on the five continents. Damas lives in Brussels.
Readings by Writers will host various authors including Michael Bazzett, Claire Wahmanholm, Mary Moore Easter, and Gretchen Marquette as part of their monthly reading series hosted by poet Tim Nolan.
The winter coffeehouse “Morningside After Dark” will house itself in the beloved Fellowship Hall and will feature songs and stories around a January theme. Enjoy a complimentary Caribou coffee bar and treats while you take in performances with fellow EMCC members and the community.
When the time came to make our year-end lists, we decided against developing a unified theory of list-making—we couldn’t agree on what the parameters should be, and it didn’t seem much like our style anyway. So instead, each bookseller came up with their own selection of the best books they read in 2018, free of constraints.
