Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) invites the community to participate in all related events for this fall’s upcoming Common Reading event. The book for Fall 2023 semester is Bright Dead Things by Ada Limón, United States Poet Laureate.
Limón is scheduled to visit Wednesday, October 18, 2023 for a keynote presentation, book reading, and book signing at 12:30 p.m. in Blandford Lecture Hall in the Humanities building on OCTC’s Main Campus; the event is open to the public.

Humberto Ak’abal (1952–2019) was a K’iche’ Maya poet from Guatemala. His book Guardián de la caída de agua (Guardian of the Waterfall) was named book of the year by Association of Guatemalan Journalists and received their Golden Quetzal award in 1993.
Marie-Claire Bancquart (1932–2019) is the author of Every Minute Is First and more than thirty other collections of poetry and several novels. In her lifetime she was the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Prix Supervielle, the Prix Max Jacob, and the Prix Robert Ganzo.
Jessica Fisher is the author of Daywork. She is also the author of Frail-Craft, which won the 2006 Yale Younger Poets Prize, and Inmost, which was awarded the 2011 Nightboat Poetry Prize.
